this is sushil, i m unable to find the name of smtp server to send mails using asp.net (with vb.net as code behind ), mine is windows 2000. plz help me out in finding solution to this .

u can use the ip address of ur mail server instead use the name alias ,else
if u use the obnline web application the n u can directoly wrote the 'localhost' in place of the mailserver name .
hope these can help to solve ur problem
