Indexer will not add to database
Posted: 15 Nov 2003
I have set up the system as describe in the article in accordance to the "ReadMe" file contained in the .zip

The search page works fine with the test database provided, however the “addtodb” page returns a result saying something to the effect that the index was successful and 31 things were looked at but when I check the database nothing has been added to it.

I am using Windows XP and Access XP… I’m not sure if this matters since it looks like this tutorial was written with older software in mind.

I don't think it is because of Access version, it possible it due to GetURL.dll COM component which is not working, it is just a guess though.

I tried double-checking that GetURL.dll file (I re-registered it), I tried to index a page again and I now get:

New account successfully created for http://(any site)
Total Pages Indexed : 32

I have no idea why now I have 32 pages indexed instead of the previous 31 but its still not adding records to the DB.

I also tried to check the remove page feature on the addtodb page. That returns its own error:

Error Type:
Microsoft VBScript compilation (0x800A0411)
Name redefined
/search/delfromdb.asp, line 11, column 9
Dim con, strDB
--------^
